Quilts

The shirts are pieced together, usually in a 15-inch square for adults and 12-inch square for smaller kids shirts. The shirts are then sandwiched together with a cotton backing and a layer of batting in between. I quilt it all together along the seam lines. The edges are then finished off with a binding.

Blankets

This style involves piecing the shirts together as for the quilts and then stitching that to a fleece backing, with no batting. This is a more budget-friendly option that results in a super soft and comfy blanket.

Memory Quilts

Do you have a lot of shirts in the closet (dress shirts, casual, flannels, etc.) after the passing of a loved one? These quilts make a wonderful way to honor that person. Depending on how many items are available, I can make different sizes from wall hanging to bed-sized quilts.  Often a family will want several smaller ones so that each member can have their own quilt.

I cut up the shirts into 5-inch squares, sew those together, then sandwich them with batting and a cotton backing, and then quilt them together along the seam lines. They are finished off with a binding. Please note that these have a lot more pieces and so will be more labor-intensive than the T-shirt quilts.

Pillows

Pillows are a fun option if you only have a couple shirts or have a few leftover after your quilt is done. They make a nice accompaniment to your quilt.

Things to know as you consider investing in a quilt

Please do not cut up the shirts prior to giving them to me, I have tools that allow me to get the best results and make the most of your shirts.  If your shirts have already been cut up, I am glad to work with you to make the best of it. Also, please be sure the shirts are clean before you bring them. If you have an idea of the layout you want, please let me know, if not, I am happy to work with you to get the layout you like the best.

The backing and batting I use are machine washable so if the shirts you bring me are all machine washable, you will be able to machine wash them. I suggest using cold water and hang to dry. For most quilts you may also tumble dry on low.

Although I live in Minnesota, it is not a problem to work together long distance to complete your quilt.

The costs are base costs, if you want changes or additions, that may affect the price of the quilt.
